Hair Removal

Medical Aesthetics of Muskoka has two different lasers to customize a client’s permanent hair removal needs. Hair can be removed from all parts of the body, including sensitive areas. The laser heats up the pigment in the actively growing hair root and damages it. As not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area. Most areas require 3-6 treatments for complete results. Clients must avoid waxing or plucking hairs in the treated area while undergoing laser treatments (shaving is permitted).

Clients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation each time the laser emits its pulse of light. Treatment times vary depending on the area treated, ranging from ten minutes for underarms, to one hour for full legs. Treated areas may appear a bit red and swollen immediately afterwards. Clients can return to normal activities right away. The use of sunscreen is necessary on any treated areas that are exposed to sun.
